Bulldogs Conclude Season with Strong Showing at AAC Championships
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Union Commonwealth cross country teams wrapped up their season Friday at the AAC Conference Championships, hosted at Sequoyah Hills Park.
Women's Results – 6000
The Bulldogs placed 8th overall out of 14 teams in a competitive field of 110 runners. The team recorded a total time of 2:18:34, averaging 27:42 per runner with a team score of 257.
Sofia Petz led Union with a 52nd-place finish, running a personal best of 24:52.1 (6:40.2). Her performance set a new program record, breaking a mark that had stood for more than a decade. [Click here to learn more.]
Andrea Smith followed in 63rd place, clocking 26:42.6 (7:09.8).
Jasmine Clouse ran 27:50.1 (7:27.9), while Kaylee Hall crossed the line at 28:18.9 (7:35.6).
Dagmara Lubina and Bella Townsend finished close together, posting times of 30:51.4 (8:16.5) and 30:54.1 (8:17.3) respectively.
Men's Results – 8000
Union's men earned a 7th-place finish out of 13 teams, posting a total time of 2:23:33, an average of 28:42 per runner, and a team score of 231 in a 104-runner field.
Jackson Crume led the Bulldogs for the fourth consecutive race, finishing 24th overall with a time of 26:51.0 (5:24.0).
Connor Partin and Zabrey Bortz secured 55th and 56th finishes, posting times of 28:12.0 (5:40.3) and 28:16.2 (5:41.2).
Connor Messer crossed in 29:19.7 (5:54.0), and Joshua Grubb rounded out the scoring with 30:55.0 (6:13.1).
