Union Men’s Basketball Drops Road Contest to No. 16 Georgetown
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University men's basketball team (6-10, 4-3 AAC) fell on the road to No. 16 Georgetown (12-3, 0-0 MSC), 93-63, on Tuesday night at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
Senior forward Dallas Rufus led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Sophomore guard Jabari Covington added 12 points, while junior guard Kaleb McLendon rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half: Georgetown 39, Union Commonwealth 26
Throughout the opening 10 minutes, both teams kept the game close before Georgetown took a 15-9 lead. The Tigers continued to extend the advantage for the remainder of the half, building their largest lead of the period at 37-21 with 2:11 remaining. Union closed the half on a 5-0 run, capped by a Kaleb McLendon three-pointer, trimming the deficit to 13 at the break, 39-26.
Second Half: Georgetown 93, Union Commonwealth 63
Georgetown pushed the lead to 20 within the first five minutes of the second half following a 12-5 run. The Tigers continued to build the advantage throughout the remainder of the half, eventually stretching it to 30. Union was unable to respond and fell 93-63.

The Bulldogs will open the new year on the road, traveling to McAlister Gymnasium in Montreat, N.C., to conclude a four-game road stretch Saturday, Jan. 3, against Montreat. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
