Major: Human Performance

Dominic Jones Jr. is a Human Performance major who says his favorite part about Union Commonwealth University is the strong sense of community. He values the diversity on campus—being surrounded by people from all over the world has helped him grow not just in the classroom, but also as a person. People who once felt like strangers have become some of the closest friends in his life.

His dream is to play football professionally, but if that path changes, he’s driven to become a physical trainer and health physician to help other athletes become the best version of themselves. His favorite subject in high school was gym, and he stays fueled with a cold Gatorade and gummy worms on road trips. His favorite meal? Chicken, mac and cheese, greens, and sweet tea.

Dominic’s go-to social media platform is Instagram, and he has one dog and one turtle. As a teammate, he considers himself a leader on and off the field—someone who leads by example and helps others sharpen their skills. His philosophy: “If one person slacks, we all slack.”

He wants to be remembered as someone who always brought positive energy, cared about others, and led with heart. Something interesting about him—he spends his summers as a camp counselor, working Sunday through Friday, 24/7, for 10 weeks straight.

Dominic says many people at Union have had a lasting impact on him, including the entire coaching staff, Ms. Tori, Dr. Washington, and the ARC teachers and tutors. Even being far from home, they’ve made him feel supported and welcomed. His second-best sport is basketball.
