UCU Men’s Soccer Falls Short at Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — The Union Commonwealth University men's soccer team (0–1–0) opened its season with a competitive NCAA Division I matchup against Northern Kentucky University (1–0–0).

The Bulldogs fell 2–1 in a closely contested battle. UCU struck first in the 14th minute when Gianni Loska scored the Bulldogs' opening goal of the season, assisted by Zak Hardman.

The early goal gave UCU a 1–0 advantage, which the team carried through the remainder of the first half.

In the 70th minute, NKU's Ali Taleb scored the equalizer with an unassisted goal.

Northern Kentucky then secured the game-winning goal in the closing minutes, as Maddox Behnfeldt found the back of the net with assists from Ibrahim Piracha and Jason Purks.

 

Up next for the Bulldogs is their first home game of the season against SCAD Savannah on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 2:00 p.m.
