Barbourville, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University men's basketball team defeated Bluefield 72-61 on Wednesday. It marked the first conference game of the season for each team.
The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle 38-28. Union recorded 50 points in the paint, while Bluefield registered 22.
Sam Conley led all scorers with 25 points, while being one of three players to record a team-leading seven rebounds. He was 11-of-18 from the floor. Conley's two steals were tied for the most by any player in the matchup.
Jeremiah Stroman tallied 22 points, seven rebounds, and a game-leading six assists. Dallas Rufus scored eight points, while Ben Underwood accounted for six points and seven rebounds. Micah Engle, Kaleb Hedgepeth, Jabari Covington, and Luca Stubel also scored for UCU.
The Bulldogs are now 2-1 (1-0 AAC) this season, while Bluefield is 0-2 (0-1 AAC). Up next for Union is a road conference game against St. Andrews on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
