Union women’s swimming and diving defeats Asbury
Barbourville, Ky. - The Union Commonwealth University women's swimming and diving team competed against Asbury at home on Friday. The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles 113-78.
Union claimed nine first-place finishes, along with four second-place and three third-place spots.
The team of Lise Puissant, Giulia Liberti, Manca Petrič, and Dorottya Józsa captured first place in the 200 medley relay. They clocked in at 1:53.83. Józsa added another victory in the 200 freestyle. She finished in 2:02.69.
Emma Phillips earned second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.44, while Puissant secured another first-place finish in the 200 IM, recording a time of 2:20.27.
In the 3M diving event, Sarah Graves and Sami Sierocki claimed the top two spots, with Graves earning a score of 204.15 and Sierocki following with 131.90.
In the pool, Phillips and Petrič swept the 200 fly. Phillips finished first at 2:17.99 and Petrič was close behind in second at 2:22.48. Józsa secured a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 55.95, while Pussiant topped the 200 backstroke at 1:42.61.
Petrič added another first-place victory for the Bulldogs in the 500 free. She clocked in at 5:19.88. Graves also claimed first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:38.60.
In the 200 free relay, Ceci Gimenez Martinez, Sierocki, Graves, and Phillips finished strong, capturing second place with a time of 1:48.08
Next up for Union women's swimming and diving is a home meet against Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1:00 p.m.
