BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University softball team (13-33, 8-16 AAC) dropped its nonconference doubleheader to Campbellsville (24-13, 8-4 MSC) Tuesday night at Union Field, falling 7-0 in Game One and 8-2 in Game Two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Campbellsville 7, Union Commonwealth 0
Campbellsville got on the board first in the opening inning with an RBI single to left field, taking a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers added to their advantage in the second inning with an RBI double to make it 2-0.
Union threatened in the bottom of the second inning, advancing Lily Allen to third base, but was unable to bring her home.
Neither team scored in the fourth or fifth innings, but Campbellsville broke the game open in the sixth, capitalizing on a pair of Union errors along with an RBI double and an RBI single to score four runs.
The Tigers added one more run in the seventh inning with an RBI double to make it 7-0, and Union was unable to respond.

Game 2: Campbellsville 8, Union Commonwealth 2
After a scoreless first inning, Union struck first in the bottom of the inning. Kenley Vanbibber singled to drive in Savanna Higgins, and Elizabeth Smith followed with an RBI groundout to score Vanbibber and give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.
Campbellsville answered in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 2-1.
In the fourth inning, the Tigers took control, using an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2 before capitalizing on a bases-loaded error to take a 3-2 lead.
Union threatened in the bottom half of the inning with runners on second and third, but the Bulldogs were unable to bring them home.
The Tigers extended their lead in the fifth inning with two RBI singles and a Union error, scoring three runs to make it 6-2.
Campbellsville added two more runs in the seventh inning on a pair of RBI singles to push the lead to 8-2, and Union was unable to respond.
