Union Softball Falls to Lindsey Wilson in Doubleheader
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union Commonwealth University's softball team (3-5) fell to Lindsey Wilson (5-1) in both games of a doubleheader Friday night at Union Field. Game one finished 7-0, and game two ended 4-0.
Game 1: Lindsey Wilson 7, Union Commonwealth 0
Neither team scored until the second inning when the Blue Raiders hit a triple to bring in one run. A Union error later in the inning allowed a second run to score, making it 2-0.
The Bulldogs managed to get runners on second and third but were unable to capitalize.
In the third inning, Lindsey Wilson hit back-to-back solo home runs to increase its lead to 4-0.
Union threatened again in the sixth inning with a runner on second, but the inning ended before a run could score.
In the seventh inning, the Blue Raiders put two runners on base before a three-run home run extended the lead to 7-0. Lindsey Wilson closed out the game to secure the win.

Neither team broke through offensively through the first four innings.
In the fifth inning, Lindsey Wilson took a 1-0 lead after a Union error brought in the game's first run.
The Blue Raiders added another run in the sixth inning when a runner on base scored on a triple, making it 2-0.
Lindsey Wilson added two more runs in the seventh inning. A single scored a runner from second, and a double later in the inning drove in another run to extend the lead to 4-0.
Union was unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh and fell 4-0.
