Union Men Compete at AAC Outdoor Championships
BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team competed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, hosted by Montreat College. The Bulldogs placed 10th overall in a competitive 12-team field.
Sprints & Distance
Camahni John led Union in the 100 meters, placing 11th out of 25 competitors with a time of 10.78. Keith Hadley followed closely in 12th at 10.80.
In the 200 meters, Hadley recorded an 11th-place finish in 22.23.
John also paced the Bulldogs in the 400 meters, finishing 10th in 50.06.
Connor Messer represented Union in the 800 meters, earning an eighth-place finish in 1:57.25. In the distance events, Jackson Crume led the Bulldogs in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:24.35, while Michael Golden competed in the 5,000-meter race walk, finishing in 42:34.27.
Hurdles & Relays
Preston Frost delivered a standout performance in the 400-meter hurdles, earning a third-place finish in a field of 18 competitors with a time of 55.37.
Connor Partin represented Union in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:19.48.
The 4x100 relay team of Collin Anderson, Camahni John, Keith Hadley, and Xavier Owens placed fourth out of nine teams with a time of 41.68.
In the 4x800 relay, the team of Connor Messer, Jackson Crume, Torrean Thornton, and Zabrey Bortz finished seventh in 8:49.11.
Jumps & Vaults
Valor Pennington led Union in the high jump with a mark of 1.82 meters, while Tyler Sturgill cleared 1.77 meters.
Tim Freeman recorded a mark of 3.45 meters in the pole vault.
Nicholas Blann paced the Bulldogs in the horizontal jumps, placing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.65 meters and fifth in the triple jump at 13.80 meters.
Throws
Isaac Doneghy led Union in the shot put with a throw of 12.39 meters. William Sykes competed across multiple throwing events, recording marks of 34.32 meters in the discus, 45.24 meters in the hammer throw, and 39.25 meters in the javelin.
