Season Dominance Continues as Bulldogs Finish Second at Asbury Invitational

WILMORE, Ky. — The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team placed second out of eight teams at the Asbury Chick-fil-A Invitational, scoring 110 points behind Kentucky State. The Bulldogs continued strong stretches of top finishes across multiple events, highlighted by several standout performances throughout the meet.

Sprints

Union opened the meet with a strong showing in the 100 meters, as Collin Anderson placed second overall in 10.74 seconds, earning his third consecutive top-three finish this outdoor season. Keith Hadley finished third in 10.76 seconds, while Camahni John took sixth in 10.91.

In the 200 meters, Hadley returned to lead Union with a runner-up finish in 21.88 seconds, with John following in eighth at 22.33.

In the 400 meters, Isaiah Spears placed third in 51.85 seconds, while Demauri Owens finished ninth in 55.16.

Distance & Relays

In the 800 meters, Zabrey Bortz led Union with a fourth-place finish in 2:01.54, while Connor Messer placed 13th in 2:10.40.

Joshua Grubb recorded Union's top finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing in 20:50.62.

The Bulldogs won their fourth straight 4x100-meter relay of the season, as Collin Anderson, Keith Hadley, Camahni John, and Xavier Owens combined for a winning time of 42.21 seconds.

Jumps & Hurdles

Preston Frost continued his strong season in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in 58.57 seconds. The victory marked his fourth straight top-three finish in the event this outdoor season.

In the 110-meter hurdles, TJ Smith placed fourth in 18.70 seconds.

Union posted several strong field performances, led by Tyler Sturgill, who placed second in the high jump at 1.80 meters, marking his third top-three finish in the event this season.

In the long jump, Nicholas Blann continued his dominant run, taking first place with a mark of 6.71 meters, his fourth consecutive top-three finish this outdoor season.

Tim Freeman placed fifth in the pole vault at 2.90 meters.

Throws

Isaac Doneghy led Union in the throws with a third-place finish in the shot put at 12.13 meters. He also placed fifth in the hammer throw at 29.54 meters.

In the discus, William Sykes finished sixth at 32.56 meters, followed by Jesus Calderon in seventh at 31.22 meters.

Sykes also placed third in the javelin with a throw of 40.24 meters, extending his streak of top-three finishes in the event to four this outdoor season.
