Fast Times and Big Marks Power Union at Landon Bond Classic

BEREA, Ky. — The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team competed this weekend at the Landon Bond Classic at Berea College, facing competition from 10 schools.

Sprints
Collin Anderson continued his strong season, tying for second place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.31 seconds alongside Camahni John in a field of more than 25 competitors. Isaiah Spears placed eighth in 11.65, while Michael Albin added a midpack finish at 11.85. 

In the 200, John led the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in 22.90, followed by Keith Hadley in fifth at 23.00. Anderson finished seventh in 23.21, and Spears placed 10th in 23.57.

Preston Frost added a third-place finish in the 400 with a time of 52.20.

Distance and Relays
Connor Messer and Zabrey Bortz paced Union in the 800, finishing fifth in 2:01.32 and sixth in 2:02.99.

Jackson Crume led the Bulldogs in the 5,000 with a fifth-place finish in 16:08.74, while Connor Partin earned third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:57.41.

Union claimed a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay, as the team of Anderson, John, Owens and Hadley posted a time of 42.80.

Jumps and Hurdles
Tyler Sturgill placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.80 meters, and Tim Freeman finished third in the pole vault at 2.90 meters.

Nicholas Blann continued his strong season in the long jump, placing second with a distance of 6.47 meters. Sturgill recorded a jump of 5.64 meters, and TJ Smith followed at 5.58 meters.

Blann also captured first place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.69 meters, his third consecutive win in the event.

Throws
Isaac Doneghy led Union in the shot put with a sixth-place finish at 12.06 meters. 

William Sykes placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 35.23 meters and later won the javelin with a mark of 49.83 meters.
