Bulldogs Dominate Pioneer Invite, Sweep Key Events

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team turned in a strong showing at the Pioneer Invite, earning multiple gold medals and podium finishes across a range of events.

Sprints
Collin Anderson led the Bulldogs in the 100 meters, taking gold in 10.89 seconds. Keith Hadley added a podium finish with a second-place time of 11.01, while Xavier Owens finished 10th in 11.26.

Hadley also delivered in the 200 meters, placing second in 22.33 in a field of more than 30 competitors.

In the 400 meters, Camahni John secured gold with a time of 49.91. Connor Messer finished third in 51.44, and Isaiah Spears followed close behind in fourth at 51.47.

Distance
Zabrey Bortz earned a podium finish in the 800 meters, placing second in 2:04.17, while Torrean Thornton took sixth.

Connor Partin represented Union in the 5,000 meters, finishing 10th in 16:54.02.

Relays
Union's 4x100 relay team of Anderson, John, Hadley and Owens claimed gold with a time of 42.23, finishing two-tenths of a second ahead of Hanover.

Jumps and Hurdles
Nicholas Blann, the previous AAC Field Athlete of the Week, continued his strong season by winning gold in the triple jump (13.97 meters) and third in the long jump (6.90 meters), marking his ninth top-three finish of the 2025-26 season. Valor Pennington placed sixth in the long jump, while Tyler Sturgill cleared 1.72 meters in the high jump.

Preston Frost added another podium finish in the 400-meter hurdles, placing second with a time of 57.02.

Throws
Isaac Doneghy competed in the shot put, recording a mark of 11.67 meters in a field of more than 20 athletes.

William Sykes led the Bulldogs in the javelin with a third-place finish at 48.48 meters and also competed in the discus, posting a throw of 35.48 meters.
