Blann’s Runner-Up Finish Marks Fifth Podium of the Season as Bulldogs Close Indoor Campaign
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Union Commonwealth University men's track and field team competed last week at the AAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track.
Sprint Events
Collin Anderson (7.18) led the Bulldogs in the 60 meter dash, earning a 16th place finish in the preliminaries while Keith Hadley (7.20) and Camahni John (7.22) followed.
In the 200 meters, Hadley paced the Bulldogs with a time of 22.98, coming in at 17th place out of 31 competitors.
Distance Events
Torrean Thornton and Conner Messer competed in the 600 meters, posting a 1:32.42 and a 1:33.03 finish.
Zabrey Bortz paced the Bulldogs in the 1000 meters, posting a 2:39.48 finish while Jackson Crume represented Union in the 5000 meters with a 9th place finish at 15:58.40.
Jumps and Hurdles
Valor Pennington competed in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 11.53 in the preliminaries.
In the high jump, Jayvian Breckenridge tied for seventh after clearing 1.80 meters. Pennington added a clearance of 1.75 meters.
Nicholas Blann earned an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.14 meters.
Blann returned for a podium finish with a strong second-place performance in the triple jump, recording a mark of 14.23 meters in a field of 10 competitors. The finish marked his fifth top-three performances this season across all events.
Relays
Union captured 6th place in the 4x400 relay, coming in at 3:29.57 with the team of Isaiah Spears, Camahni John, Connor Messer, and Valor Pennington.
The Bulldogs added a fifth-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay, with Jackson Crume, Preston Frost, Connor Messer, and Zabrey Bortz combining for a time of 8:23.62.
Union also competed in the distance medley relay, as Zabrey Bortz, Isaiah Spears, Connor Messer, and Connor Partin posted a time of 11:12.68 to finish seventh.
Throws
Isaac Doneghy led Union in the shot put with a throw of 11.63 meters.
