Lincoln Leaps Way to Another National Runner-Up Finish

GULF SHORES, Ala. - Myles Lincoln did it again.

The Union freshman recorded a national runner-up finish at the 2021 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet as he finished second in the triple jump. Lincoln also placed second in the triple jump at the 2021 NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet in March.

The three-day national championship meet was held at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Lincoln registered a distance of 15.22 meters to earn the national runner-up finish. The leap bested the program record he set in April by 0.39 meters. This is the third time a Bulldog has earned NAIA All-American honors in the triple jump, but this is the highest anyone has placed in the event at nationals. DeMorrio Leggett placed fifth in the event in 2009, while Donovan Johnson finished sixth in 2019. This is also the 17th time a Bulldog earned NAIA All-American honors at the outdoor championships.

Lincoln was also the highest-placing male athlete from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). No other AAC male athlete finished higher than third.

At the indoor national championship meet, Lincoln finished second with a leap of 14.71 meters.

The Plainfield, Ill., native scored eight points for Union in the team competition to place the Bulldogs tied for 40th. A total of 78 teams scored points.

Also competing for Union at nationals was Anthony Symile, who placed 22nd in the discus with a toss of 40.79 meters.
