Major: Actuarial Science

Ziyad Marikar is majoring in actuarial science as he begins his collegiate career at Union. One of the things he is looking forward to most is experiencing a new and interesting lifestyle while studying and competing in the United States. Although he is pursuing a degree in actuarial science, Marikar is also interested in the rapidly growing world of social media and hopes to build a career in the industry. He is excited to embrace new opportunities, challenge himself academically, and continue developing as a member of the Bulldogs' soccer program.

Outside of soccer, Marikar enjoys spending time in the gym and hanging out with his friends. Physical education was his favorite subject in high school, and his favorite soccer player is Lionel Messi, whose creativity, consistency, and success at the highest level have inspired him throughout his career. Burgers and steak are among his favorite meals, while water is his drink of choice. Although he doesn't have a favorite road trip snack, TikTok is his favorite social media platform and one of the reasons he has become interested in the digital media industry.

Marikar describes himself as a sociable and supportive teammate who enjoys building strong relationships with those around him and contributing to a positive team culture. He hopes to be remembered simply as a good person who treated others with kindness and respect throughout his time at Union. He has one cat and says that if he weren't playing soccer, table tennis would be his second-best sport. As he begins this new chapter, Marikar looks forward to creating lasting friendships, growing as both a student and an athlete, and making a positive impact on and off the field.
