BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union Commonwealth University's men's basketball team (4–8, 3–3 AAC) overwhelmed Reinhardt (4–9, 3–3 AAC) Wednesday night at Robsion Arena, rolling to a commanding 92–65 victory.
Redshirt junior guard Drew Rhodes led the charge with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. He also paced the Bulldogs on the glass with nine rebounds.
Redshirt junior forward Kaleb Hedgepeth added 16 points, while sophomore guard Jabari Covington, junior forward Devin Dunn, and redshirt freshman John Carrecker each scored 10 to round out Union's double-digit contributors.
As a team, the Bulldogs shot 52% from behind the arc (13 of 25) and 48.6% from the field (36 of 74).
How It Happened
First Half: Union Commonwealth 38, Reinhardt 29
Reinhardt opened the scoring, but Union quickly settled in, tying the game at 9–9 before taking its first lead at 15–14 on a three-pointer from Rhodes. The Bulldogs gradually built momentum, pushing the advantage to 25–19 with 4:23 remaining. Union closed the half on a 13–10 run to take a 38–29 lead into the locker room.
Second Half: Union Commonwealth 92, Reinhardt 65
Union erupted out of halftime with an 11–0 run, stretching the margin to 49–29. The Bulldogs continued to pour it on, eventually leading by as many as 36 after a Carrecker three made it 88–52 with 3:53 to play. While Reinhardt closed the gap slightly in the final minutes, the outcome was never in doubt as Union cruised to a dominant 92–65 win.
