Union Falls on the Road at Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. Union Commonwealth University's men's basketball team (2-5, 1-3 AAC) fell to Pikeville (6-2, 5-0 AAC) on Tuesday night at Appalachian Wireless Arena, 91-78.

Junior forward Devin Dunn led Union with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting and went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Junior center Ali Sakho followed with 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting while grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. Redshirt junior Kaleb Hedgepeth was the third Bulldog in double figures, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting.

How It Happened

First Half: Pikeville 50, Union Commonwealth 29

Union kept the game close through the first 10 minutes, trailing just 21-20 at the 9:39 mark. From there, Pikeville took control, closing the half on a dominant 29-9 run to build a 50-29 lead at the break.

Second Half: Pikeville 91, Union Commonwealth 78

Union made a push early in the second half, trimming the deficit to 14 at 63-49 with 11:47 remaining. However, Pikeville maintained its cushion the rest of the way as both teams traded baskets down the stretch, sealing the 91-78 result.
