CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Union Commonwealth University baseball team (4-20, 1-16 AAC) dropped the final two games of a three-game Appalachian Athletic Conference series to Truett McConnell University (10-18, 3-12 AAC), falling 8-5 and 4-2 on Saturday.

Truett McConnell opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead.

Union responded in the top of the second as Marquese Glynn delivered an RBI double to score Isaiah Pintor. Cristian Bajjalieha followed with an RBI single to bring home Glynn, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage.

TMU answered in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to tie the game, but Union regained the lead in the fourth. Bajjalleha recorded his second RBI of the game with a double, scoring Glynn to make it 3-2.

The Bulldogs extended their lead in the fifth when Noah Young stole home, pushing the advantage to 4-2.

Truett McConnell responded with a big inning in the bottom of the fifth, using a double and four singles to score six runs and take an 8-4 lead.

Union attempted to rally in the sixth when Nathan McCabe drove in Bajjalieh with an RBI single, but the Bulldogs were unable to complete the comeback.

Union struck first in the top of the third inning when Bajjalieha drove in Caleb Newkirk to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Truett McConnell took control in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on two bases-loaded walks and a pair of RBI singles to build a 4-1 advantage.

The Bulldogs looked to rally in the seventh inning as Roberto Gallardo drove in Isaiah Pintor, but Union was unable to generate additional offense down the stretch.
