UCU Baseball Sweeps Goshen on Opening Day

CORBIN, Ky. – The Union Commonwealth University baseball team (2-0) opened the 2026 regular season with a pair of victories over Goshen (0-2) on Sunday afternoon, winning 5-2 and 10-5.

Game 1: Union Commonwealth 5, Goshen 2

  • In the bottom of the first inning, Aiden Wilson opened the scoring with a single up the middle, advancing Isaiah Pintor and bringing home Joaquin Gutierrez.

  • Wilson added to the lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the third.

  • In the fifth, Wilson extended his hit streak with an RBI double, advancing Pintor and scoring Gutierrez. Tucker Allen followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Pintor later in the inning.

  • Wilson scored again when Sheppard Graf reached first base on a Goshen error.

Game 2: Union Commonwealth 10, Goshen 5

  • Sheppard Graf got the scoring started in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run that scored Allen.

  • Later in the inning, Roberto Gallardo scored on an error by the Goshen catcher. 

  • Wilson followed with a two-run home run to score Pintor. 

  • Noah Young capped the inning with an RBI triple, scoring Graf.

  • In the bottom of the fourth, Allen drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Gutierrez.

  • Brysen Vernon added a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Young. 

  • The Bulldogs' final run came later in the inning when Gallardo scored on a wild pitch.
