Bio
Major: Business Management
Gabe Shooltz is a Business Management major who values the close-knit, welcoming atmosphere at Union. His favorite thing about campus is the small-town, family-like vibe and the inclusive community that encourages spiritual growth. He appreciates the Godly influences throughout campus and the mentors he can lean on to grow closer to the Lord.
Outside of baseball, Gabe enjoys fishing, swimming, and lifting. His dream job is to play professional baseball, inspired by icons like Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, and Ketel Marte. In high school, his favorite subject was Mandarin Chinese.
A Michigan native, Gabe has a dog back home and is also a triplet—he, his brother Sean, and his sister Cami are all 22 years old. On the field, he considers himself the teammate who always brings a positive attitude, works hard, and creates good vibes in the clubhouse. He hopes to be remembered for the way he lives his life—leading by example for his Heavenly Father, reflecting the Holy Spirit, giving his all, playing gritty, and being a “dog” on the field.
Gabe credits Chris Lewis as someone who has already made a strong impact on him at Union, showing what it looks like to lead for Christ both as a head coach and as a family man.
Gabe’s favorites reflect his personality and tastes off the field. Chocolate milk tops the list as both his favorite drink and go-to road trip staple, along with Chinese food, Lay’s potato chips, and beef jerky. His favorite meal includes fried rice, dumplings, orange chicken, and Chinese donuts. When it comes to social media, he spends the most time on Twitter and Instagram.
If he wasn’t playing baseball, Gabe says football would be his second-best sport, followed by basketball or track and field.
