Stegman named AAC Baseball Player of the Week

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - After leading the charge during Union baseball's most productive offensive output of the season, Colton Stegman has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Stegman went 7-for-8 with four RBIs, five runs scored and home runs in both games as the Bulldogs scored 25 runs in a doubleheader sweep against Montreat, which helped them earn the No. 5 seed at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament. He drove in three runs and scored three more in the finale, a 17-2 Bulldog win in which they recorded a season-high 20 hits.

He is the third Union player to win the AAC Player of the Week award this season. Angel Mendoza was the winner in the fourth week of the season, with Luke Powell earning it in week nine.

The Bulldogs will face Truett McConnell in the first round of the AAC Tourney at 9 a.m. at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn. It can be streamed here.
