Union archery earns five top-three finishes at the USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals
Foley, Al. - The Union Commonwealth University archery team competed in the USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals.
The Bulldogs finished seventh out of 29 teams, competing against both NAIA and NCAA schools, with a total score of 48. UCU took home five medals: one gold, one silver, and three bronze.
Kyle Coffey won the 3D National Championship in men's barebow, scoring 182 in round one, and 185 in round two, for 448 points total with six twelves.
In men's compound, Kapt Brandt placed fourth with a score of 448, shooting 28 twelves. He scored 222 in round one and 226 in round two. Baylee McQueen finished sixth in women's barebow, with scores of 164 and 137 in the two rounds.
UCU earned two medals in mixed-team events. Brandt and Ava Noehre placed third in compound with a score of 847, while Coffey and McQueen took second in barebow with a score of 668.
In the official team rounds, UCU earned two more bronze medals. In men's compound, Brandt, Chase Herndon, and Evan Miller finished third with 1308 points. In men's barebow, Coffey, Johnathan Stanley, and Preston Thompson also placed third with a score of 854. In the fixed pins team event, Taylor Gwynette, Ryker Jordan, and Braylon Green finished sixth with a score of 1146.
