Former Bulldog standout Scotty Barnes is in his first season as the head coach for Union's men's and women's cross country and track & field programs.
A 2010 graduate with a degree in human performance, Barnes was a member of the track & field program from 2006-10, helping the Bulldogs to the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship in 2009 and 2010. Primarily competing in the decathlon, Barnes qualified for the NAIA National Championship meets five times as part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
In addition, Barnes was an All-Conference performer nearly two dozen times during his career. He was also a member of the Bulldog cross country team in 2007 and 2008.
After graduating from Union, Barnes moved to St. Louis, Mo., where he began taking graduate classes at Logan College of Chiropractic and worked as a personal trainer.
