Jamie Ness was named the head cross country and track & field coach at Union in June of 2012.
Ness comes to Union after serving as an assistant at Transylvania (Ky.) University since January of 2011, helping during two track seasons and one cross country campaign. While there, he oversaw the sprinters and hurdlers. Prior to that, Ness was the head coach at Blacksburg (Va.) Middle School for three years.
A native of Marion, Va., Ness graduated from Berea (Ky.) College in 2005 with a degree in business administration. In May of 2012, he received his masters in kinesiology from the University of Kentucky.
During his time at Berea, Ness was a two-time national qualifier to the NAIA Cross Country National Championship Meet. He also ran a variety of long distances for the Berea track time from the 800-meter run to the half marathon.
Ness continues to compete in track & field to this day, participating in the throwing events.
Ness is married, and his wife, Gabrielle, is currently pursuing her doctorate at the University of Kentucky.
