  • Jonathan Shaw, a former Union College standout goalkeeper, enters his seventh season as a member of the Bulldogs men's soccer coaching staff. After serving six seasons as an assistant coach, Shaw was named the head coach in June of 2017.
  • Shaw, a native of Merseyside, England, comes into the coaching profession after an outstanding four-year career as a Bulldog.
  • In his senior season of 2010, Shaw was named to the All-AAC First Team at goalkeeper for the second straight year. In his career, he was named NAIA National Player of the Week on two occasions (is the only player in program history to do so), and was a three-time AAC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Shaw also etched his name into the Union College record books. At the time of his graduation, he held the program record for shutouts in a career (17) and was tied for first in shutouts in a season (7). which he set in 2009. He ranks second all-time in career saves with 281.
  • Before coming across the pond to Union, Shaw played for the Tranmere Rover's School of Excellence, and the Chester City School of Excellence and youth team during his up bringing. 
  • Helped coach Knox Country Central middle school soccer team during their inaugural season.
  • In 2015, Shaw was named team captain and goalkeeper of the Knoxville Force of the National Premier Soccer League.
  • Shaw graduated from Union in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree, and holds an FA Coaching Certificate, a USSF D License and NSCAA Level 3 Goalkeeper License. Shaw is currently working on getting his USSF C License.
  • He earned his Masters Degree in Education from Union in 2013.
 
Thomas Pazo Tourinho
Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Alma Mater: Shorter University, 2015
  • Pazo, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil comes to Union playing four seasons at Shorter University, in Rome, Georgia at the NCAA DII level. 
  • A Magna Cum Laude graduate, Pazo recieve his degree in December 2015 double majoring in Economics and Business Management 
  • During his time in Georgia, Thomas helped coaching kids from all levels and ages for the North Georgia United Soccer Club
  • Pazo coaching career took him to California, where he worked as an assistant coach for the San Luis Obispo Soccer Club and San Luis Obispo High School. 
  • Holding a USSF "E" license, Pazo traveled across seas to Europe where he took coaching courses (FA Level 1 and 2), while participating in an internship for the Benfica Soccer Academy in London, England. 
  • Pazo hopes to pursue a career in coaching in the future, but is currently working towards a Master's degree in Health and Physical Education at Union
 
Joshua Reed
Grad Assistant - 1st Season
Alma Mater: Ottawa, 2017
  • Reed, a native of London, England comes to Union playing three seasons for the Bulldogs.
  • After three years spent at Union, Reed transfered to Ottawa University, in Ottawa, Kan. where he received his degree in Business Management 
  • During his time at Union, Reed was a part of the team that adanvaced to the National tournament. 
  • While at Union, Reed spent three years coaching the Barbourville Youth Soccer teams.
  • Reed holds a F.A. level 1 coaching license, and is currently persuing his Level 2 license. 
  • While working towards a coaching career, Reed has spent several years coaching club teams and taking coaching sessions in South London.
  • Reed spent his summer running private coaching sessions while in Kansas. 
  • He is currently working towards a Master's degree in Health and Physical Education while coaching at Union
