BRISTOL, Va. - The Union College volleyball team recorded a 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep Thursday night at Virginia Intermont College. The sweep was the 10th 3-0 victory of the year for the Lady Bulldogs.

Union improved to 10-3 in conference play and 14-5 overall. On the other side, Virginia Intermont fell to 1-29 and 0-12 in the AAC.

All three sets Thursday shared similar 25-13 scores in Union's win.

The trio of Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada), Brooke Vinovich (Somerset, Ky.) and Autumn Combs (Florence, Ky.) all recorded seven kills. Combs added three blocks.

Meg Donnelly (Middletown, Ohio) served a season-best four aces with her 15 digs.

Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) recorded 30 assists and a team-high 16 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs will be a part of the Campbellsville (Ky.) University Invitational that starts on Friday. Union will start the event with a 4 p.m. match against NCAA Division III member Spalding (Ky.) University followed by a 6 p.m. contest with Urbana (Ohio) University.

Lady Bulldog Notes

  • The Lady Bulldogs stretched their winning streak over Virginia Intermont to five matches dating back to the 2007 season and all have been 3-0 sweeps.
  • In three-set matches, Union owns a 10-2 record this season.
  • Moreland now has 201 digs on the season and is the second Lady Bulldog with 200 or more digs in 2008 joining Christina Prindle (Florence, Ky.)
