BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Georgetown (Ky.) College needed just four minutes to net the first goal en route to a 4-0 shutout win over host Union College on Tuesday in the season opener for both squads.

Union struggled to generate very many scoring changes as Georgetown (1-0 overall) outshot the hosts 22-6. Union's best scoring chance came late in the game off a 20-yard shot by freshman Hannah Goins (Corbin, Ky.). Only a nice save by Georgetown goalkeeper Amy Chamberlain kept the ball out of the net.

Taking advantage of a turnover deep in the Union zone, Andi Wilhoit beat goalkeeper Brittany Puryear (Somerset, Ky.) to her right side to put Georgetown up 1-0 in the fourth minute.

Twelve minutes later, Ashley Stigall knocked in a rebound off a corner kick to lift the Lady Tigers to a 2-0 cushion.

In the second half, Brittany Hunt made it 3-0 when she scored off a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Savannah Evans netted a goal in the 72nd minute off an assist from Chelsea Baysore to wrap up the scoring.

Despite allowing four goals, Puryear kept Union in the game as she made 12 saves. Chamberlain record three stops in registering the shutout.

Union (0-1 overall) returns to action Thursday when it plays host to West Virginia Tech at 2 p.m.
