BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College volleyball team captured a 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory at home Tuesday against Virginia Intermont College.

The win boosted Union's record to 8-4 overall and 4-2 in the AAC. Virginia Intermont fell to 0-12 and 0-2 in conference play.

Union took the opening set with a 25-15 score. The Lady Bulldogs added wins of 25-13 and 25-16 for the sweep.

The tandem of Brooke Vinovich (Somerset, Ky.) and Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) recorded nine kills apiece. Pateman also tied her career high with six aces and all came in the final set. The conference's setter of the week, Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) tied her season high with 32 assists and led the team with eight digs.

Pateman and Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) accounted for two blocks each.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan College for a 7 p.m. contest Thursday.

Lady Bulldog Notes

  • Tuesday's match was the last home match in the month of September for Union. The Lady Bulldogs went 3-3 inside Robsion Arena this month.
  • The last six matches for Union have ended with scores of 3-0 and the Lady Bulldogs have gone 4-2 in that stretch.
  • Union extended a winning streak against Virginia Intermont to four matches.
  • Moreland also had four kills, a season best for her.
