LOUISVILLE, Ky. The 2008 Mid-South Conference Football Preseason Poll was released by the organization and the conference coaches have predicted a fourth-place finish for Union College in the East Division.

Union finished 2007 with a 4-7 overall record. The Bulldogs went 2-3 in MSC East play which included a 28-21 win over Georgetown (Ky.) College to end the season.

Georgetown was selected as the preseason favorite in the East, followed by defending champion University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) UVa-Wise shared the East crown with Cumberlands last season and was placed third in the preseason poll.

Pikeville (Ky.) College follows Union in fifth while Campbellsville (Ky.) University and West Virginia Tech are sixth and seventh, respectively.

In the west, Bethel (Tenn.) College is picked to once again reign supreme. Shorter (Ga.) College was placed in second and Belhaven (Miss.) College third. Cumberland (Tenn.) University, Lambuth (Tenn.) University and Faulkner (Ala.) University were voted from fourth to sixth.

Three teams from the East are ranked in Top-25 in the NAIA Football Spring Coaches' Poll, led by UVa-Wise in 13th. Cumberlands was 16th and Georgetown rounded out the group in 23rd. Bethel was the only team from the West in the rankings at No. 5.

The 2008 season opens for the Bulldogs with a trip to Lambuth on September 6. The home portion of the schedule kicks off the next Saturday, September 13, against Malone (Ohio) College at 1:30 p.m. Georgetown is the first MSC East opponent for Union and the two meet on September 27 on Burch/Nau Field.
