Men's Cross Country - Sat, Nov. 4, 2006

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Union College cross-country team finished seventh at the Appalachian Athletic Conference/NAIA Region XII meet as all but one runner recorded a personal record Saturday.

Junior Brandon Kibert (19th) ran twenty-four seconds faster shattering his previous personal record and school record. The Tazewell, Tenn. native came in with a time of 27:14:45 in the eight-kilometer race, landing him just 11 seconds shy of a spot at the NAIA National Meet.

Sophomore Brennan O’Quinn (28th) also ran an impressive race, knocking 24 seconds off his previous time. Freshman Daniel Kual had one of his best races this season, chipping five seconds off his previous personal record.

Johnny Barnes (73rd), Scotty Barnes (75th) and Dustin Wattenberger (78th) had outstanding races, especially for runners who specialize in sprints.

Virginia Intermont won the meet, with their runners taking the top eight spots and eleven out of the top 15. Union College finished seventh of out 11 teams, with 199 points.

“They guys showed tremendous character today.” Jimison added.
