BARBOURVILLE, Ky. David Johnson of Louisville's St. Xavier High School has signed to swim collegiately with the Union College Bulldogs.

Johnson swam sprints and freestyles for the KHSAA boys' state champions. He was coached by for Marty O'Toole at St. Xavier. Johnson posted a second-place finish at the KHSAA state championship in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events this past season. He was a second-team All-KHSAA team selection.

"I am very happy to have David coming to Union College this upcoming fall," Union's head coach Rafael Forti said. "He is a sharp person and will be a valuable asset for our school and program."

Johnson was also a part of the Louisville's Revolution to Swimming club team for coach Leslie Selden.

"David has being associated with an excellent high school swimming program at St. Xavier and coaching staff for years now and has great speed and work ethic," Forti added. "He will add a lot to our squad, especially on sprint events, as well as fight for a spot on our team relays."

The Bulldogs finished this season at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championship with a 14th-place finish.
