BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College junior Brandon Kibert has been named as a 2006 NAIA Menís Cross-country Scholar-Athlete, the NAIA announced recently.

This is the first time a Bulldog has received this honor since the 2004 resurrection of the program.

Kibert (Tazewell, Tenn.) has made steady improvements each race this season and fell just 11 seconds short of qualifying for the NAIA National Championship Meet. Kibert came in with a time of 27:14:45 at the NAIA Region XII race, shaving 24 seconds off his previously recorded time.

To be named an All-American Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must be a minimum of a junior in academic standing and have at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Kibert will now begin training for the marathon, as well as working on a dual majors. Kibert is double majoring in criminal justice and history.
