ATLANTA, Ga. – Union College men's tennis team fell in heart breaking fashion to SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) Saturday, falling 5-4 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.

With the results, the Bulldogs are 5-8 on the season and 3-3 in the AAC, while SCAD Atlanta moves to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in league play.

SCAD Atlanta commanded the early 2-1 lead after doubles play. Alberto Mendenez and Nick Runac picked up the number one doubles victory 8-3, followed by an 8-6 number three doubles flight victory. However, Tiago Gil (SO/Figeria da Foz, Portugal) and Ignacio Tejerino captured the 8-4 number two doubles win to get Union on the board.

Tejerino continued his success into singles play, nabbing the (6-3, 6-4) decision in number one singles against Mendenez to tie the match up 2-2.

After tough back-and-forth play from both teams, Union knotted the match up once more thanks to a Bartolovic (6-4, 6-3) victory over Kyle Craig to make the score 3-3.

Despite the valiant effort, SCAD was able to secure the match victory with back-to-back victories in the number four and five single flights to escape with the 5-4 defeat.
