BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Morristown West High School swimmer Shawn Spoon will compete on the collegiate level at Union College.

From his sophomore to senior seasons, he was a Tennessee State Championship qualifier. Spoon is ranked in the Top 6 in the Knoxville Interscholastic League rankings. He competed in the 100-meter and 200 freestyle events.

He was a member of the Sevier Aquatic Club Stingrays for coach Jay Newton.

“Shawn is a great person and I am happy he is coming to Union College,” Union's head coach Rafael Forti said. “He has a great work ethic and will be a great help for our men’s team next year on our sprint events, mainly on freestyle and butterfly.”

Spoon joins fellow Sevier Aquatic Club Stingray, Travis Faig, who has also signed with the Bulldogs for next season.

The Bulldogs finished this season at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championship with a 14th-place finish.
