MONTREAT, N.C. - The Union College men's tennis team won their third straight match in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Sunday afternoon, rolling past host Montreat (N.C.) in a 9-0 shutout win on the road. 

With the victory, the Bulldogs moved to 3-2 on the year.

Things got underway for Union strongly in doubles, as the Bulldogs captured all three matches to take a 3-0 lead in the match.

At number one doubles, the team of Borna Bartolovic (FR/Zagreb, Croatia) and Egil Brudvik (FR/Aasgaardstrand, Norway) rolled to an 8-0 win to get things started, which was the same margin of victory Ethan Wright (FR/Brandenburg, Ky. ) and Adrian Frutos (FR/Cartagena, Spain) had at the number three spot. Finally, in number two doubles, Tiago Gil (FR/Figeria da Foz, Portugal) and Ignacio Tejerina (FR/Madrid, Spain) posted a tough 8-3 win to give the Bulldogs the three-point lead.

The success continued for Union into singles action, where each of the six Bulldogs in the starting lineup notched victories. 

First, Bartolovic posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one, followed up by a 6-0, 6-1 victory by Tejerina in the number two position. Brudvik kept the momentum going with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number three, while Gil was a 6-0, Retired winner in number four. 

Frutos and Wright finished off the sweep of Montreat in the number five and six spots, respectively, as Frutos won his match, 6-2, 6-2, and Wright took a 6-0, 6-2 victory in his match.

The Union College men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Bluefield (Va.) for another AAC match. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
