BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College head men's golf coach Tony Carruba has announced that Alberto Torrado has signed his National Letter of Intent, and plans to join the Bulldog program in time for the start of the 2014-15 academic year later this month.

Torrado, a native of Santa Cristina d'Aro, Spain, comes to Union from a prep career at  IES Sant Feliu, along with an extensive competitive career as a junior in his native country.

A member of the Spanish Championship Team (representing his region of Catalonia), Torrado has finished second in the Costa Brava Golf Club Senior Tournament and the Saint Joan U16 Grand Prix, fourth in the Balearic Islands Regional U16 Tournament, 18th in the 2012 Spanish Championship, and 25th in the International of Spain U18.

"I am very happy to add Alberto to this year's recruiting class," said Carruba. "He has had a very solid junior career and that success will likely continue at the collegiate level. I am very excited to be a part of this young man's development on and off the golf course."

Alberto is the son of Merce Bardes and Ildefonso Torrado, and plans to major in Mathematics at Union College.
