KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Three Union College baseball players earned spots on the 2014 All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Teams, which were announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. They were - first baseman Nelson Price (JR/Burkesville, Ky.), second baseman Miguel Mendez (SR/Lansing, Mich.), and pitcher Luke Collis (SR/St. Charles, Mo.).

Price, a junior, started in 52 of the 54 games Union played in on the 2014 season. Overall, he ended the year leading the Bulldogs in batting average (.349), slugging percentage (.589), home runs (10), and RBI (49). Defensively, Price posted a .976 fielding percentage, and was on the receiving end of 36 double plays.

Mendez, a senior, was in the Bulldogs' starting lineup in all 54 games the team played on the 2014 season. Overall, he ended the year batting .328, tying Price for a team-best with 61 hits. Mendez, who knocked in 27 RBI, also stole a team-high 29 bases on the year, as well.

On the defensive end, Mendez was just as impressive, posting a .970 fielding percentage with just eight errors. In all, Mendez successfully turned 39 double plays, as well. For his efforts, Mendez also earned an AAC Gold Glove award at second base.

Collis, a senior, was Union's ace on the mound all season, posting a 9-2 overall record, with a team-best 2.98 ERA. Tossing seven complete games on the year, Collis also recorded three shutout victories, struck out 54 batters, and came out of the bullpen and notched two saves on the year, as well.
