ACWORTH, Ga. - In windy, cold conditions at the Governors Club, the Union College men's golf turned in a strong performance in the final round at 2014 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, finishing in second place overall, as the event wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.

In the third round, the Bulldogs posted a combined score of 319 to finish the 54-hole event with a team score of 921 (303-299-319). Union was defeated in the team overall race by No. 22 Tennessee Wesleyan, who captured the 2014 AAC Championship with a final team score of 906 (301-289-316).

The second place finish for Union in the event was the highest for the team since 2009. That season, the Bulldogs won the tournament championship.

Individually, Andy Dusek (FR/Woking, England) fired a 78 in tough conditions to finish in a tie for seventh overall, (Dusek posted a combined score of 229 in the event), to post the highest finish in the event for the Bulldogs. Elsewhere, Alasdair Ross (FR/Fort William, Scotland) was Union's other top ten finisher, also posting a 78 on the day to finish in a tie for 10th overall (Ross posted a combined score of 231 on the week).

Meanwhile, seniors Garrett Bradley (SR/Jellico, Tenn.) (who shot 82 on the day) and Tim Cooper (SR/Falmouth, Ky.) (who fired an 81) finished in a tie for 16th after posting 54-hole scores of 234, and Simon Taylor (JR/Eckenhaid, Bayern, Germany) finished in a tie for 22nd with a two-day score of 237.

Overall, Tennessee Wesleyan's Evan Ball was the individual medalist in the event, while Deven Broadaway of Truett-McConnell (Ga.) was named the AAC's Player of the Year.
