BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union tennis teams posted a split result against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Point (Ga.) on Tuesday with the women winning 5-4 and the men falling 9-0.

The Union women are now 2-7 overall and 1-5 in league play, while the men are 0-11 and 0-5 in the AAC.

Women's Match - Union 5, Point 4

The Bulldogs rallied to win four of the six singles matches pull out the 5-4 victory. 

Point took the early advantage by claiming two of the three doubles matches. In singles play, Summer Manning (SO/Taylor Mill, Ky.) got the ball rolling with a 6-1, 6-3 decision, and Richi Shackleford (FR/Barbourville, Ky.) followed it with a 6-2, 6-3 win. However, Union trailed 4-3 heading into the final two singles matches. Megan Harris (FR/Worthville, Ky.) and Karina Ramos (SR/Presidente Prudente, Brazil), though, came through with wins to give the Bulldogs the 5-4 victory.

Harris won her match 6-4, 7-5, while Ramos posted a 6-2, 6-1 decision.

Point falls to 1-18 overall and 0-6 in the AAC.

Men's Match - Point 9, Union 0

The Skyhawks took control of the match by sweeping the doubles matches by the scores of 8-4, 8-0 and 8-1.

Union nearly picked up a point in singles play, but Louis Molina (FR/Las Palmas of Canarias, Spain) fell 7-6, 7-6 in a hard fought match with Rafa Hewitt.

Point is 10-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
