ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union College track & field's Alex Prokopchak (FR/Williamstown, Ky. ) and Andrew Johnston (SR/Benton, Ky.) earned Appalachian Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors on the women's and men's sides, respectively, the conference announced Monday.

The pair earned this week's honor after helping the Bulldogs finish sixth at the Centre (Ky.) Invitational this past weekend.

Johnston captured the lone event on the day for both the men's and women's teams in the invite, capturing the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet, 11.75 inches. Johnston also placed ninth in the javelin with a toss of 118 feet, two inches.

Prokopchak posted an impressive performance in the meet for the women's team, finishing in the top ten in three events. Her highest finish came in the javelin, where a 80 feet, six inch effort was good enough for fourth overall. Elsewhere, Prokopchak finished sixth in the triple jump with a 31 foot, 4.75 inch leap, and seventh in the long jump with a 14 feet, 3.25 inch effort.

The Union College men's and women's track & field teams return to action on Saturday, taking part in the Cumberlands (Ky.) Invitational in Williamsburg, Ky.
