CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Union tennis teams showed some fight but came up short in taking on the ranked squads from Campbellsville (Ky.) on Tuesday. The men's team lost 8-1 to the 24th-ranked Tigers, while the women fell 9-0 to the 22nd-ranked team in the land.

The Union men are now 0-8 overall, while the women are 1-7.

Men's Match - Campbellsville 8, Union 1

Louis Molina (FR/Las Palmas of Canarias, Spain) and Eric Mikhlin (SO/Edgewater, N.J.) scored the Bulldogs' lone point in doubles play, winning the final four games to net the win. Molina and Mikhlin trailed 7-5 and looked to be on the brink of defeat, but the duo rallied to win the next four game for the 9-7 decision. 

Campbellsville took the next two doubles matches by the scores of 8-1 and 8-0.

In singles play, Molina fought off two match points before falling 6-4, 6-3. 

The Tigers are 10-4 on the season.

Women's Match - Campbellsville 9, Union 0

The Lady Tigers dominated play for the most part, winning the three doubles matches by the scores of 8-1, 8-0 and 8-0. In singles play, Campbellsville took four of the six matches by the identical score of 6-0, 6-0.

One bright sport for Union was the play of Summer Manning (SO/Taylor Mill, Ky.), who battle valiantly and made the 6-0, 6-4 contest seem much tighter than the score indicates.

Campbellsville is 10-3 overall.

Up Next

The Union men will play at Asbury (Ky.) on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Union women return to the court on Saturday when it plays at Reinhardt (Ga.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
