MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - Union used all its firepower in the opener of the Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader against Milligan (Tenn.) on Saturday, splitting the twinbill.

The Bulldogs clubbed their way to an 11-4 win in the first game, but the Buffalo staff kept Union at bay in the finale for a 5-0 decision.

After the today's games, Union is now 14-5 overall and 4-1 in the AAC. Milligan now sits at 6-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.

Game One - Union 11, Milligan 4

Nelson Price (JR, Burkesville, Ky.) drove in a season-high five RBIs, including a grand slam, to lead Union to the 11-4 victory.

The Bulldogs scored four in the top of the first. Price got his first RBI during the rally, but John Wilson (JR, Manchester, Ky.) had the big of the frame in the form of a two-run single.

Up 6-4 in the fifth, Union put the game out of reach with a five-run outburst. Vance Sullivan (JR, Verona, Ky.) scored the first run of the inning thanks to a wild pitch. Later in the frame, Price sent the 1-2 offering from Justin Freeman over the right-field fence for a grand slam.

Price finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Jared Tomany (SR, Bryant, Wis.) finished 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Luke Collis (SR, St. Charles, Mo.) improved to 4-0, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings of work.

Game Two - Milligan 5, Union 0

Union outhit Milligan 5-4, but the Buffaloes took advantage of two errors and five walks in scoring the 5-0 win.

Milligan scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the first when Ernesto Fernandez lined a two-out single to score Luke Kirk.

It remained a 1-0 contest until the sixth when the Buffaloes added four insurance runs. Hunter Carpenter and Corey McPherson each delivered two-run doubles during the rally.

Meanwhile, the pitching combo of Jake Watts, Corey Jenkins and Jake Howell kept Union off the scoreboard in spite of giving up five hits and four walks. The Bulldogs left nine men on base, while the Buffaloes stranded six.
