BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College softball team is slated to finish eighth according to the 2014 Appalachian Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released on Wednesday.

Defending AAC Regular Season Champion Reinhardt (Ga.) tops the poll after garnering seven first place votes and 106 total points, while defending AAC Tournament Champ Virginia Intermont is second in the ranking after picking up three first place votes and 94 total points.

Tennessee Wesleyan comes in third in ranking, followed by Milligan (Tenn.) (who also garnered a first place vote), Columbia (S.C.), Bryan (Tenn.) and Point (Ga.). The Bulldogs come in at eighth after garnering 44 total points in the ranking, as the poll is rounded out by Truett-McConnell (Ga.), St. Andrews (N.C.) and Montreat (N.C.).

Union, who is led by second year head coach Becky Bishop, comes into the 2014 season off a 15-30 season in 2013. However, the team made a run in the 2013 AAC Tournament, winning three games before bowing out to Reinhardt (Ga.).

The Bulldogs open their 2014 season on Feb. 11, hosting Cumberlands (Ky.) in a doubleheader at Union Field.
