BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College guard DeAntray Stevens matched a game-high with 19 points, leading the Bulldogs to a big 98-72 victory over Alice Lloyd (Ky.) in NAIA men's basketball action on Wednesday night at Robsion Arena. 

With the victory, Union improved to 12-3 overall on the year, while Alice Lloyd fell to 7-7 with the loss.

In the first half, the game was close through the first seven minutes of regulation, with the Bulldogs clinging to a 12-8 lead at the 13-minute mark. Here, Union went on a big run, rolling on a 15-4 scoring flurry over the next four minutes to open a 27-12 lead. From there in the rest of the period, the Union lead remained in double-figures, as the Bulldogs went into the locker room for halftime up 17 at 51-34

It was more of the same in the second half for Union, as the Bulldogs quickly extended the lead out to 20 points (55-35) in the first minute of the period. From there, the Bulldogs rolled the rest of the way, on their way to a convincing 26-point victory over the visiting Eagles.

Leading Union in the win was Stevens, who in the first action of his Bulldog career led the way with his 19-point night. Stevens was aided in his performance by some hot shooting from beyond the arc, as his finished the game shooting 5-of-8 from three-point range.

Elsewhere, Deante Johnson recorded yet another double-digit scoring night, scoring 15 points, while snatching seven rebounds. Guard Maurice Turner rounded out the Bulldogs who scored in double figures, scoring 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor.  Meanwhile, Fitzgerald White had nine points, but dished out seven assists, recorded five steals and blocked two shots.

Alice Lloyd was led in the defeat by Tyler Brewer, who had 19 points.

By the Numbers

  • As a team, Union recorded 14 steals on the night, the second highest mark of the year for the team. The season high came in the Bulldogs' first game against Boyce (Ky.) on Oct. 29 at 17.
  • The Union defense held Alice Lloyd in check from outside the arc all night, as the Eagles finished the game shooting just 20 percent from three-point range (3-of-15). The Bulldogs also held ALC to just 26.7 (8-of-30) percent shooting from the floor in the first half.
  • White posted season best marks in both steals and blocks on the night, while matching his high total for assists in the victory.
