ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union sophomore Lydia Nash is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Nash helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record last week as the team posted an 81-73 win at Columbia (S.C.) and a 65-58 decision over visiting St. Andrews (N.C.). Union is 11-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

On the week, the 6-foot center averaged 27.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. Nash matched her career-high scoring output when she poured in 36 points against Columbia on 13-of-17 shooting. She shot 61.3 percent (19-of-31 shots) from the field and 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the foul line.

For the season, Nash leads the team in scoring with a 17.25 points-per-game average. She ranks fourth in NAIA Division II in field-goal percentage (60.0 percent), 22nd in total points (276) and 38th in points per game. In addition, Nash averages 3.8 rebounds per game and makes 77.0 percent of her free throws. 

Union returns to action Saturday when it visits Bryan (Tenn.) for a key AAC showdown. The Lady Lions are currently ranked 25th in the nation and sport an 11-5 overall record and 6-1 league mark. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
