BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union women's basketball team made its first appearance in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll as the Bulldogs are ranked No. 21, the national office announced on Tuesday.

Union is 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

The Bulldogs are one of seven newcomers in the top 25, joining No. 10 Midland (Neb.), No. 16 Oregon Tech, No. 17 Northwestern Ohio, No. 19 Southern Oregon, No. 22 Hastings (Neb.) and No. 24 Point Park (Pa.).

After receiving only 13 voting points in the preseason poll, Union garnered 105 this time around. No. 22 Hastings collected 103.

Union is led in scoring by Lydia Nash, who is averaging 16.6 points per game. Haley Perkins is next in line at 13.8 points per game, while Amber Taylor is chipping in 12.9 points per game. Taylor also leads the team in rebounding (6.0 rebounds per game) and assists (51).

As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 75.4 points per game and owns a 3.5 scoring margin. Union ranks 19th in the NAIA in 3-pointers made per game, averaging 7.111. 

Union returns to action on Wednesday when it plays host to conference rival Tennessee Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m.
