BEREA, Ky. - Union College forward Lydia Nash scored 24 points, as the Bulldogs held off a late comeback bid by Berea (Ky.) to take an 81-76 decision on the road Friday evening. The game was a part of the 2013 Rainmaker Hospitality Shootout Presented by Comfort Inn and Suites.

With the victory, Union improved to 3-1 on the year, while Berea (Ky.) fell to 2-1 with the defeat.

In the first half, Union clung to a 14-13 lead with 12:26 left after a Berea three-pointer. Then, the Bulldogs went on a huge 13-0 run over the next five minutes to open up a 27-13 lead with seven minutes remaining in the period. Union rode the momentum from the surge over the rest of the period, and held a 37-27 lead at the break.

In the second half, Berea quickly got the Union lead down to just four points (37-33), but once again, the Bulldogs went on a scoring run, this time a 10-2 surge to go back up double-digits at 47-35 at the 15-minute mark. Union proceeded to keep the double-digit lead, and with seven minutes left, the Bulldogs led 63-49.

Here, Berea made one last run at the lead, cutting the deficit down to four points (70-66) with 3:26 left. But, Union fought off the surge, opening up an insurmountable 76-68 lead with 1:33 left. From there, the Bulldogs hung on, sinking two free throws in the final seconds to win the game by six over the host Mountaineers.

Overall, Nash was Union's leader on the night, scoring 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Nash was also impressive from the charity stripe in the win, going 10-of-12 from the free throw line in the victory.

Elsewhere, Alyson Roberts added 13 points and Haley Perkins had 10 points. Amber Taylor scored eight points and led Union in the rebounding department snatching eight 'boards to round out the top performances on the night for the Bulldogs.

Berea was led in the loss by Johnesha Warren, who scored a game-high 28 points.
