MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - Sophomore Lydia Nash poured in a game-high 23 points as visiting Union notched an 84-70 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over No. 19 Milligan (Tenn.) on Tuesday.

This marked the first time Union had won at Milligan since Jan. 22, 2005, when it posted a 67-61. The Bulldogs had lost their last eight games at the Buffaloes' home.

Nash paced a quartet of Bulldogs scoring in double figures. Amber Taylor followed with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Alyson Roberts and Aaliyah Lumson each added 11 points. Roberts and Lumson also grabbed nine and eight rebounds, respectively, with Roberts dishing out a team-best four assists.

Union (2-1 overall, 1-0 AAC) held the lead, Milligan bounced back to grab a 22-17 edge with 8:32 left in half. Not ready to back down, the Bulldogs responed with an 18-6 rally in seizing a 35-28 advantage with 3:37 remaining in the period. Union capped the rally with Roberts and Lumson draining back-to-back 3-pointers.

The Bulldogs went on to take a 42-36 lead into the half.

Milligan (1-1 overall, 0-1 AAC) opened the second half with a 5-0 surge to cut the defiict to one. However, the Buffaloes could not tie or retake the lead as the Bulldogs maintain control the rest of the way. Once Union built its first 10-point lead, Milligan never got within four points the rest of the way as the Bulldogs registered the 84-70 victory.

Allison Jones led Milligan with 15 points, Robyn Anthony followed with 13. Kayla Kelly and Hayley Wyrick chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

By the Numbers

  • Union outrebounded Milligan 53-43. Taylor and Roberts led the way with nine boards apiece with Lumson adding eight.
  • Neither team shot the ball particularily well. Union hit 38.8 percent (26-of-67 shots) from the field, while Milligan made only 23-of-73 shots (31.5 percent).
  • In addition to controlling the boards, Union controlled the paint as it scored 22 points in the lane and had 13 second-chance points.
