NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Union women's basketball team dropped a 72-54 decision to host Indiana Southeast on Saturday, dropping the Bulldogs to 1-1 on the season.
Union struggled from the field, shooting 34.5 percent (19-of-55 shots) and 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point range. IU Southeast hit 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the floord and was 5-of-14 (35.7 percent) from long range.
The Grenadiers led 37-23 at the half.
IU Southeast's bench came through with 32 points, while Union's helped out with only seven. The Grenadiers only had one player in double figures, Heather Wheat with 18 points. However, IU Southeast had eight players to score five or more points.
Lydia Nash led Union with 19 points and five rebounds, while Amber Taylor added 11 points and seven assists.
IU Southeast is 2-0 on the year.

- IU Southeast out rebounded Union 46-33. No Bulldog had more than five rebounds on the day.
- The last time Union last at IU Southeast came on Nov. 22, 2011, as the Grenadiers posted a 71-59 decision. The Bulldogs later defeated IU Southeast 76-62 that season and went on to advance to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
- Union struggled from the foul line as well, making only 12-of-24 free throws.
The Bulldogs begin Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Tuesday as they pay Milligan (Tenn.) a visit. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
