ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Union College women's soccer team has been voted third in the 2013 Appalachian Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs garnered 91 total points in the ranking, along with a first place vote.

On top in the preseason ranking is 2012 AAC Regular Season and Tournament champion Montreat (N.C.), who totaled 113 total points in the ranking and six first place votes. Tennessee Wesleyan is second in the poll with 107 points and three first place votes, followed by the Lady Bulldogs and Milligan (Tenn.), who landed in fourth with 90 total points.

Rounding out the poll is Reinhardt (Ga.) (83 points), Truett-McConnell (Ga.) (56 points), Bryan (Tenn.) (50 points), Columbia (S.C.) (49 points), St. Andrews (N.C.) (38 points), Point (Ga.) (33 points), and Virginia Intermont (12 points).

The Lady Bulldogs, led by third year head coach Camila Mendes, look to build on an 11-6-1 season a year ago, 6-2-1 in the AAC.

Top returners include junior forward Helen Weber, the 2012 AAC Golden Boot award winner after scoring 10 goals in AAC play, and sophomore Aline Dalmedico, the reigning AAC's Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 12 goals in her freshman campaign.

Union opens their 2013 slate on Aug. 28 at Campbellsville (Ky.). The Lady Bulldogs host their first home match of the season at Burch/Nau Field on Aug. 31 verses Georgetown (Ky.).
